N.B.: The "OSX 10.11" footer inserted by the site is incorrect, and I don't know how to remove it. In two cases I wasn't able to update (even after doing first aid on everything you could do first aid on, namely the SSD, the container, and the partition), and had to reinstall the OS. I'll add I've had a history of problems with previous 10.13.6 OS (as opposed to Safari) security updates. In addition, the computer has become laggy. Following the Safari 13.0.3 update, I had these two incidents: (1) Computer froze during use and (2) Computer wouldn't wake from sleep. MBP freezing after updating to Safari 13.0.3 Have mid-2014 BTO MBP w/ 2.8 Ghz i7 (4980HQ Haswell/Crystalwell) and 1 TB SSD (340 GB free), running 10.13.6. I've tried disabling and uninstalling Safari extensions and system add-ons like Little Snitch, resetting PRAM and the SMC, Disk Utility repair, Onyx, EtraCheck (no major issues), TechTool Pro (no issues), reinstalling Mojave and, finally, a clean install on my Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB without migrating data.Īny ideas? Switching the default browser is an obvious workaround, yes, but this is clearly a bigger issue that I'd like to get to the bottom of before it causes any more problems. Unfortunately, it's not possible to do a safe boot with this GPU but the same issue is happening in both my admin and day-to-day user accounts. I've tried other browsers (Firefox, Chrome) and haven't (yet) come across the issue with them. Twitter is one website that always causes a restart. I can't identify the source of the issue but suspect it's something to do with some web graphics/media tech conflicting with the GPU. (3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 (2 x 16), Mojave 10.14.)Įverything is working well apart from Safari beachballing, freezing and restarting the Mac Pro. I have a mid-2012 Mac Pro (yes, I know it's legacy but it's still a good machine) with the recommended Sapphire Pulse 580 8GB GPU and dual mini 6-pin to 8-pin power cable installed.
